Re: Brown's Win is a Victory for TEA Party Movement, NOT Republicans!
(Saturday, January 23, 2010)
Stephen, I couldn't agree more!
On Tuesday night, when the election in Massachusetts was a "done deal" I had no doubt in my mind that the Tea Party movement was a major part of Brown's success-and I thought back to last April 15th, when a friend and I went to our first Tea Party in Hauppauge-The tea party that you and Judy had helped to organize. Finally, we felt that there was a chance to take this country back!
I went to as many rallies as I could, made signs, stood outside Bishop's office on Monday's and Wednesday's, met with Bishop on several occasions (fell on totally deaf ears!) got shut out of his second Town Hall meeting (being outside was just as effective) and had the experience of a lifetime on September 12th in DC. When I looked out across that sea of humanity, the amount of people peacefully gathered there-it was actually frightening. I knew at that moment that I was a part of history, and no matter how they tried,(and they tried!) there would come a time when "they" would no longer be able to ignore the will of the people.
That time arrived on Tuesday night. I want to thank you for allowing me to be both a witness to, and a very small part of,- history. Even a tidal wave begins as a tiny ripple, and those small voices gathering together since last April 15th have created a Tsunami that has just begun to hit the shores of Washington, DC.
Respectfully,
Melanie Plunkett Connelly
