Time To Put Up or Shut Up
Now that Labor Day has come and gone, and election season has begun in earnest, it's time for all of us to ask ourselves - why did we join the Tea Party Movement?
For me, it was about trying to preserve our freedoms and our way of life to pass them on to my children and suceeding generations. I saw the direction in which our country was heading and I feared for our future, so I had to DO SOMETHING. We've all got our own individual reasons. We must focus on them now - let them build to a fervor that compels us to TAKE ACTION NOW, if we're to have any chance realizing our hopes for a better future.
Over the last year and a half, it has made us feel good to finally get off the couch - to stop merely complaining about the insane policies spewing from Washington & Albany and start doing something about them. Most of us have never been involved in politics before and, to be sure, being SILENT NO MORE has had a major impact on the political landscape - but at this point, what have we really achieved and what should our goals be?
The answer to that is simple. In America the only way to change policy is through elections. WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING if candidates who represent our principles are not elected in November! If we're not willing to get out and support Conservative candidates, then this has all been an exercise in futility. We might as well have stayed on the couch throwing things at the TV. All the rallies, protests, letters, emails, phone calls, clever signs, etc., will amount to a BIG FAT ZERO unless we do everything in our power to THROW THE BUMS OUT!
At this point, if we're not doing all we can to devote our energies and monies to the campaigns of candidates we hope will bring sanity to this country, we might as well SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP and let the loonies have their way! We've no right to say anything if we're not willing to get out and help change things. Our founding fathers pledged "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor" to the cause of liberty. The Tea Party Movement has seen a resurgence of that kind of spirit, but we must channel it into substantive action, or WE'RE ALL JUST KIDDING OURSELVES!
If you need any more motivation to get activated, watch this YouTube video:
I'm Taking Action - Michael Berry of KTRH.com.
He's a Houston-based talk show host, and there's no difference between his local wing-nuts and ours.
Then GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND GET INVOLVED! Contact one or several of the candidates listed below &
volunteer. There are many ways YOU CAN HELP. Walk the district distributing literature.
Put a lawn sign in your yard. Man a phone bank. Donate money. Register voters & commit to help
them get to the polls. Do all of the above and more. Do whatever your preferred candidate asks you to.
This is the home stretch. If we don't start to turn things around now, it may be too late.
It is imperative that we take back both Albany and Washington in November if we're to save our state and our country from bankruptcy.
Support your Congressional candidates to take the speakership away from Nancy Pelosi.
Both NY Senate seats are up this year so we can do our part to dethrone Harry Reid.
The NYS Senate is crucial this year as 2011 will be the year of redistricting. The Dems currently hold a slim 2 seat majority and Malcolm Smith, the President Pro Tem, has been quoted as saying "With the Democrats in control of the State Senate, we are going to draw the lines so that Republicans will be in oblivion in the state of New York for the next 20 years" ( Click Here To See For Yourself).
The NYS Assembly, led by Sheldon Silver, is dominated by the NYC Democrats, who currently hold a 105-42 seat supermajority. Although demographics make it virtually impossible to take control, we only need to take 9 seats statewide to breakup their supermajority and thus give any voice at all to people in the suburbs and upstate. Dean Murray faces a tough battle for re-election in the 3rd District. One of our own CSA members, Robert Germino is running for the Assembly this year against a prototypical Liberal in the 13th. Many others throughout Long Island are trying to unseat Shedon Silver puppets in their districts. They need your help.
Get involved in one or more of the campaigns below. If you're not sure who some of these people are and what they stand for, video of when most of them screened for CSA is available at: Meet The Candidates , to help you decide.
Jay Townsend vs. Chuck Schumer for US Senate
(http://www.townsendfornewyork.com/)
Is there anyone more representative of the pompous, arrogant, elitist, ruling class than Chuck Schumer?
Aren't you tired of corrupt, career politicians who think we are too stupid to even care about
their pork barrel spending?
Click here to hear it right from the pompous ass's mouth
Jay is the Republican/Conservative nominee who will fight for Lower Taxes, cutting Spending & Deficits,
Energy Independence & Repealing Obamacare.
Joe DioGuardi vs. Kirsten Gillibrand for US Senate
(http://www.dioguardiforussenate.com)
Our unelected junior senator has been nothing but a lap dog for Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer,
voting for every item on the Liberal agenda since she's been appointed to the post.
She is very vulnerable and this seat could be the difference that takes the majority away
from the Liberal Socialists in the Senate and the gavel out of Harry Reid's hands.
Joe is a former Congressman and a CPA, with a long record of public service.
Joe espouses Conservative views on Spending, Debt, Energy, Healthcare & Education.
Randy Altschuler vs. Tim Bishop for US Congress in District 1
(http://www.randyaltschuler.com)
Tim Bishop is the poster child
for all that is wrong with Washington. CSA was formed largely to defeat him and when we showed
up at his town hall in Setauket on June 22, 2009, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOLs7Cybnqw)
it became the blueprint for the tactic the Tea Party Movement would use henceforth to hold our
elected officials accountable.
"Randy Altschuler is widely recognized as a pioneer and successful entrepreneur in small business."
John Gomez vs. Steve Israel for US Congress in District 2
(http://www.gomez2010.com)
Steve Israel has been more than just a Pelosi puppet, voting for the bailouts, the stimulus,
Healthcare, Cap & Trade, etc. Far from being independent or moderate, Mr. Israel is a
reliable proxy for Nancy Pelosi and he admitted as much during an interview with the
Washington Post (when he was far away from any Long Island ears). His praise for Pelosi
was described as "effusive" when he said that he is a "huge fan" of hers and added:
"I am anxious to perform whatever mission she asks me to perform." In obeying Ms. Pelosi's
marching orders, Steve Israel has been an active recruiter heading the Democratic Congressional
Campaign Committee. He relishes his role in recruiting, telling the Washington Post "I love doing
that - I love travel, love politics, love turning red seats blue."
John Gomez is a Conservative native Long Islander, who "For his entire adult life John has
been an informed and active citizen, publicly promoting the American values espoused by our
founding fathers and Ronald Reagan"
Fran Becker vs. Carolyn McCarthy for US Congress in District 3
(http://www.beckerforcongress.com)
Carolyn McCarthy is nothing more than a DNC puppet, (she's not even allowed to hire her own staff -
the DNC does that for her). She voted for the entire Pelosi agenda, regardless of the impact on her
own district. She's never even in the 4th district - preferring to hobnob with the other elites in
Washington or out in the Hamptons when on recess. She's never available or even visible to her
constituents except during the few weeks leading up to election time. It has recently come to light
that McCarthy got thousands of dollars in campaign checks from a lobbyist and his son who've since
been charged with funneling illegal cash to politicians. At the same time the money was pouring in,
McCarthy sponsored millions of taxpayer dollars in congressional "earmarks" for some of the lobbyist's
clients, records show. McCarthy has got to go.
"Francis X. Becker, Jr. is the first elected representative of the 6th Legislative District
in the Nassau County Legislature. A popular and beloved fiscal conservative, Fran has been
re-elected to the legislature by wide margins for eight consecutive terms."
Dr. James Milano vs. Gary Ackerman for US Congress in District 5
(http://www.jamesmilanoforcongress.com)
Gary Ackerman is yet another Pelosi puppet doing the bidding of his party brass instead of representing
the people in his district. In addition to voting straight down the line on the entire agenda, he's
under investigation for ethics violations, involving a gift of stock from a private company which
subsequently received a government contract after Ackerman used his office to influence the decision.
Dr. Milano is "a practicing Emergency Physician for the past 10 years at the Saint Francis Heart Hospital
in Roslyn who is running to: "repeal and replace the current Health Care", "protect and secure
our sovereignty", and lower taxes.
Lee Zeldin vs. Brian Foley for NYS Senate District 3
(http://www.zeldinforsenate.com)
Brian Foley was the deciding vote to impose a payroll tax on Long Island businesses, schools,
hospitals, non-for-profits and more. The payroll tax was pushed by New York City politicians
who wanted to bailout the MTA.
Lee is an Army veteran and attorney who served in Iraq in the Judge Advocate General's Corps
and was a Federal Prosecutor. Lee's top five priorities are to: Lower Property Taxes, Repeal
the MTA Payroll Tax, Reform Education Funding to benefit Long Island, Create More Jobs and
End the culture of corruption and dysfunction in Albany.
Jack Martins vs. Craig Johnson for NYS Senate District 7
(http://martinsforsenate.com)
Craig Johnson is a vulnerable one term incumbent who has voted in lock step with his NYC party
leadership to massively increase taxes, including the dreaded MTA Payroll tax.
"When Jack Martins was elected mayor in 2003, Mineola was on the verge of bankruptcy: the largest
debtor village in New York State, with crippling taxes, stagnant growth, and annual deficits.
In five years, Jack turned Mineola around - by putting taxpayers first. He cut spending, found
alternative revenues, stabilized taxes and developed real solutions to the problems plaguing
taxpayers. "
Dean Murray for Re-election in the NYS Assembly District 3
(http://www.votedeanmurray.com)
"Dean has been fighting to cut out-of-control property taxes and cap future increases.
He wants to rein in wasteful state spending and reform state government so it starts working
for the people and not the special interests. Dean has been pushing for common sense,
bi-partisan solutions to cut job-killing taxes to make it easier for Long Islanders to live,
work and raise their families. Dean has led the charge in fighting to eliminate the unfair,
job-killing MTA payroll tax."
CSA Member Robert Germino vs. Charles Lavine for NYS Assembly District 13
(http://www.friendsofrobgermino.com)
Former Marine Captain and long time Tea Party member Rob served 5 years including a tour of duty in Iraq.
He's running on a platform of: Ending the Dysfunction in Albany, Capping Property Taxes on Long
Island & Repealing the MTA Tax.
Charles Lavine, the prototypical Liberal Lawyer/Politician who represents everything we're trying to stop.
One glance at his Wikipedia page (Wikipedia: Charles Lavine), will tell you all you
need to know. Among other things, Mr Lavine: Was the only non-NYC Assemblyman to co-sponsor the MTA Payroll Tax,
Defended convicted cop-killer David McClary, Joined convicted radical lawyer Lynn Stewart in defending
terrorists, supports terror trials in NY, Championed same-sex marriage in NY,
Was at the forefront of Transsexual rights in Albany,
Participated in "Hugs for Obama" as a leading member of Organizing for America in 2008
